A fire early this morning destroyed the premises occupied by Messrs Phillips and Pollard, photographers. The fire appeared in the first instance in the room over the operating room, and had a good hold when it was observed by a passer-by. The premises, which were owned by Mr Toomath, were completely gutted, and the stock destroyed. The building was insured for £350 in the New Zealand Office, and the stock for £100 in the Scottish Imperial. Nothing is known as to the origin of the fire.
