Sudden Death.— Mr Geo. Westropp, master of the Opihi school, died very suddenly on Thursday evening last from disease of the lungs. Though his disease had been of long standing, he was able to perform his duties up to the Tuesday. He had a great many friends, all of whom will doubtless hear with regret of his sudden decease. He leaves several children, whose mother met with an accident at Geraldine some while back, from which she never recovered.

Mr Westropp was a school teacher prior to his coming to New Zealand, where he has had charge of the Springston and Little River schools.

His remains were followed to the local cemetery on Sunday last by a number of mourners and members of the Masonic fraternity, to which he belonged.
