The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital on Friday evening last of Mr F. E. Harris, a well-known settler of Mungaterere Valley. The deceased was thirty years of age, and leaves a widow and four children. The funeral will arrive at the Clareville store from the Masterton Hospital at 3 p.m. to-day, and will proceed thence to the Clareville Cemetery.

William is buried in a grave near to the Gudsells in the Weedons Cemetery. William's birth was registered in 1877 number 10971; his parents were shown as Samuel and Mary. His father was a butcher living in Weedons. This card was found inside Clara's album. |

ReplyDeleteTo Early Canterbury Photography. I've just discovered this page and you have a photo in your album of my Great Great Grandmother Mary Lord nee Meng. I've never seen this photo of her but it is definitely her! She is on the 8th page down next to a man I don't know. She was best friends with Clara Elizabeth Baker nee Harris. Hello Annsley, I don't know myself if this is Frederick Harris, but it is possible. Do you have other photos of him?
ReplyDeleteI have this same photo of Clara’s brother Frederick Edward Harris. He is my great grandfather. His son Robert Davie Harris is my Grandfather and my father Robert Hilton Harris.
DeleteThere is only one photograph in his late 20s that my family has - I will try to get a good image of it when I am next in New Zealand. This one does resemble my grandmother, his daughter.
