His mother Elizabeth Mary Robinson died 28 February 1896 at Cornhill, Dorchester aged 65 years, wife of Joseph Robinson.
Grand Duke Alexander Michaelovitch of Russia, arrived in Auckland on the "Ryndia" 15 March 1888. He was a grandson of Czar Nicholas I of Russia and later the brother-in-law of Emperor Nicholas II.
