November 1906 A south-easterly view from the vicinity of the lower Canal Reserve (Linwood Avenue), near to the junction with Ferry Road, looking toward Clifton Spur and Shag Rock, with Whitewash Head in the distance.
Although Frank Newbery must have used a tripod for this photograph of the Avon-Heathcote Estuary, it's a shame that his equipment didn't run to a spirit level.

This is my great grandfather. Probably taken from his house.
Hi Sara,
Frank Newbery was your grandfather? Is he the son of Alfred and Emma (nee Willis)?
Thanks!
