MUIR, Frederick Mintaro Bailey

Frederick Mintaro Bailey Muir
[also known as Frederick Bailey Muir]
born 21 February 1869, Dunedin reg. 1869/32575, son of Kate Pauline and Frederick Joseph Muir (1), died 26 June 1920 at Randwick Military Hospital, Sydney, NSW, Australia (2), married firstly 25 February 1890, reg. 1890/567, Mary Isabel Calvert, married secondly 20 June 1913, reg  1913/6346, Lucy Ethel Brown.

Information was received this morning of the arrest at Culverden of F. B. Muir on a charge of obtaining £110 by means of false pretences from W. F. Shortt. Muir, it appears, left Wellington on Thursday of last week for Blenheim; from there he proceeded to Awatere, waited for the coach, and then went on to Kaikoura. From Kaikoura he is understood to have started off on foot, and it is supposed that he has been overtaken by the local constable and taken to Culverden.

Last week Muir took out a ticket for Sydney, and less than an hour before the Talune left a warrant was issued for his arrest, and a thorough search of the steamer was made by the detectives and police without the desired result. The prisoner will be remanded to Wellington, and will probably be here on Sunday.
